About Dr. Joel

Growing up, I was going to be a journalist, like my Dad. Then I was going to be a scientist and teacher, like my Mom. In the end, I decided to be a teaching physician, and got my MD, along with a PhD in Immunology.

Along the way, I came out as a gay man. Since then, the health of the LGBT Community, be it  medical, social, or political, has become particularly important to me. This site is my step back to my love of writing, hopefully in a way that fills a need for information and discussion in the LGBT Community.

Disclaimer: Nothing here is meant to be specific medical advice for anyone’s health problems. Instead, I’m hoping to find a place between opinion blogging and something like WebMD, with serious but fun information and commentary, referenced and linked for those who want to delve a little deeper. Let me know how I can do it better.
